976,000 points per second can be captured with 3-D Laser Scanning

Tuesday, August 6th, 2013 in Inside the Numbers

The process of 3-D Laser Scanning measures 976,000 points per second capturing several million points per scan with an accuracy of ±2mm. The result is a three-dimensional point cloud dataset of the scanner’s surrounding environment. This makes three-dimensional scanning the fastest, most accurate way to gather measurable data for a multitude of uses.
