This 5-story building is 145,000 SF. Below the building is a custom 40 foot deep tunnel which traverses city streets and attaches into the basement of the library. All of the duct work runs through the steel frame of the building. The building houses the State’s special book collections including the Braille and Talking Book Library, California History Section and Special Sections, Preservation Office, Information Technology Bureau, California Research Bureau, Technical Services Branch and Library Development Services.
