New Laurel Upper Campus Opens for Business!

Thursday, October 20th, 2016 in Featured, News

We are proud to announce this week the new Laurel Upper Campus in Menlo Park City School District opened for business.  This state of the art school serves over 300 student in grades 3-5, while the existing Lower Laurel Campus will now serve grades K-2.  The new campus includes 16 classrooms, 2 STEAM labs, music room, library, gym, kitchen, covered eating area, collaborative support spaces, administrative offices, and outdoor playgrounds and track and field.

The District chose Roebbelen to provide preconstruction and construction (GC) services for this $25M project in late 2014.

It started with strong contributions from BD/preconstruction/estimating (Bob Kjome, Crystal Julian, Steve Connor, and Juan Sanchez) followed by the tireless efforts of our operations team (Craig Bonnell, Steve Pritchard, Ian Brakey, Jarrod Andreasen, and our concrete and fencing crews).  Our accounting, estimating, and other supporting departments were vital to the project, as were our valued subcontractor/vendor partners.  This project had an aggressive schedule.  After the demolition of the existing school in late July 2015 the new campus was open for business in approximately 15 short months.  The culmination of Roebbelen’s hard work is now upon us, and it feels very rewarding!

It does not get better than the 300 smiling faces of appreciation shown here!

That reward is also shared by the District with their kind words of appreciation for the entire Roebbelen team:

“Let me first begin by thanking you and your team for working so hard to meet our goal of opening school on October 17, 2016.  It was an incredible opening! The District, parents, staff and most importantly our students are so incredibly happy with the work you have accomplished.  Working as a team with the District, design and construction teams we have been able to resolve many issues and meet the opening of the school.”
