Roebbelen represented by Rick Bruining at ACA Winter Conference in Florida
Rick Bruining, Project Manager/Corrections Specialist for Roebbelen Contracting, Inc., spoke at the 2014 Winter Conference organized by the American Correctional Association (ACA).
The conference took place January 31 through February 5, 2014 at the Tampa Convention Center in Tampa, Florida. It covered many topics including healthcare, rehabilitation programs, relationships with inmates and suicide prevention, just to name a few.
Mr. Bruining was joined by Charles J. Kehoe (M.S.W., Corrections Consultant, Juvenile and Adult Corrections Consultant, Midlothian, Virginia) and Bill Porter (Vice President at Moseley Architects, Virginia Beach, Virginia) to address the topic of Suicide Resistant Cell Design.
From the conference workshop brochure:
“Although not completely preventable, several measures can reduce the risk of suicide in cells. Conflicting standards and requirements can make design a compromise. Trouble spots in cells and the corresponding furniture, fixtures and equipment (FF&E) will be identified. Suicide resistant alternatives will be illustrated. The discussion will consider suicide resistant design for new facilities and retrofit of existing cells and FF&E.”
