Tracy High School football players graced a brand new field last Friday night, August 30th, in their season opener against Sierra High School. Roebbelen Contracting, Inc. began demolition of the old field/stadium in July 2012 and completed the project one year later, just in time for Bulldogs’ kickoff.

Along with the demolition of the existing stadium, bleachers, restroom building and fire lane paving, the new stadium construction consisted of a new synthetic turf field with a water cannon cooling system, an all weather track, new ADA compliant restroom building, new scoreboard, bleachers and press box.  Upgrades were also provided to the fire lane and the Westside Irrigation District waterline. Twelve portable buildings were relocated and modernized along with miscellaneous utility and landscape improvements.

The transformation of Wayne Schneider Stadium has been immortalized through a photographic documentary produced by Stu Jossey (tracyhighfootball.com) with photos by Wayne Thallander (Tracy High Journalism). You can view this video by following the link http://vimeo.com/73063718. This visual journey begins with the old stadium and takes viewers through demolition and new construction, culminating with a shot of the completed stadium. Photos of the completed project can also be seen in the Recreational Facilities section of our Projects Page.

Roebbelen’s successful project was acknowledged at a dedication ceremony on Friday, August 30th, which immediately preceded the Tracy High varsity game kickoff.
