Creating a Modern Learning Environment

An Aging Junior High Is Transformed into a Modern Middle School

Converting an aging junior high school into a modern middle school for 6th, 7th, and 8th graders required demolishing older buildings, adding a new two-story classroom building, and modernizing eight existing classroom buildings.

The new campus provides a state-of-the-art learning environment that includes 13 new classrooms, six science laboratories, a music classroom, a media center, and an expanded drama building. The project included all-new HVAC, lighting, and fire alarm systems and technology that significantly reduced energy consumption.

The project also included:
• A new central quad with hardcourts and landscaping
• Four new modular buildings
• An expanded student drop-off zone
• An expanded parking area
• Covered outdoor seating
