Fire Station 68

Innovation in Health and Safety

Station’s Modern Amenities Benefit Sacramento Firefighters

Firefighters risk their lives every day protecting the public. Their fire stations need to be safe and comfortable places for their long term health. Fire Station 68 was designed and built to incorporate modern amenities to improve the lives and safety of fire personnel and the community.

The 11,131 SF station and adjacent 2,400 SF heavy equipment storage building separates contaminants from living areas, enhancing health and safety. The HVAC system is designed to provide healthy indoor air quality by not pulling air from areas that might have contaminants from firefighting equipment.

The project included:
• Equipment and turnout storage and cleaning area separate from living area
• Administration area, public lobby, physical fitness center, kitchen and day room
• Crew housing, restrooms, showers, laundry
• State-of-the-art technology and systems designed for healthy indoor air quality
• Patio and landscaped courtyard
• Apparatus bay with fast-access sideways-opening bay doors
