Delivering a Beautiful Hospital Expansion
Extensive Planning Builds-Out Top Floor Without Disturbing Moms and Babies
Kaiser Permanente needed to build-out existing fourth-floor shell space adjacent to the baby-mother recovery unit to add a 24-bed surgical recovery unit at its Modesto hospital. Detailed advanced planning including 3D scanning, constructability reviews, and site investigations allowed the work to be completed without disturbing adjacent users.
The preconstruction process fostered an environment of trust and collaboration and resulted in a strong working relationship. In addition, Roebbelen’s estimating team worked closely with the client’s third-party cost-management firm to limit risk in a volatile inflationary economic landscape.
The project included:
• Construction of fourth-floor shell space into a 16,350 SF surgical recovery unit
• New nurses’ station, staff support areas, patient consult room, restrooms
• Technology upgrade
• New mechanical and plumbing
