Sutter Middle School Modernization

Elevating a Historic Campus

New Buildings and Renovations Create a Modern Learning Environment

For decades, students in the historic gold mining town of Folsom attended a high school built after a fire in 1959 destroyed most of the original campus. A new high school opened in 1998, and the high school was transformed into Sutter Middle School. Over time the campus had undergone modernization but was ready for a transformation to meet the needs of the growing community.

The project included four new buildings and renovation of three existing classroom buildings, along with state-of-the-art technology and improved lighting, fire safety, and air quality for students and faculty – along with a modernized and welcoming front entrance.

The project included:
• New 13,255 SF, two-story classroom building
• New 11,000 SF classroom/media center/library
• New 6,000 SF administration building
• New multipurpose building with stage, full kitchen, and lunch shelter, new music classrooms, gym and restrooms
• New pick-up and drop areas, new parking lots
• New central quad and courtyard
